Boston Scientific has offered the Greenfield Stainless Steel Vena Cava Filter and the Greenfield Titanium Vena Cava Filters. Each can be implanted by the jugular approach or the femoral approach, and have a maximum approved deployed diameter of 28mm.
According to multiple flyers, Greenfield filters claim proven stability with recurved hooks at the ends of the struts, 0.3% filter fractures, 1% filter migration of less than 2 cm, and 1% filter penetration. Also claimed are over 1 million implants worldwide spanning more than 30 years.
Notably, the Greenfield name originates from Lazar Greenfield who helped invent the first umbrella or cone-shape filter, and was first implanted in 1984.
